Rebooted Meal Plan Week 1

So I didn’t entirely ditch the social media but have cut down significantly.

Slowly trying to recover some kind of mental equilibrium. I didn’t stick to the no drinking thing, but as of now its part of my new ‘8 week challenge’ to myself.

Have gone back to the formal meal plans so that I can have my act together for my partner. These will go from Wednesday to Tuesday. Here is week 1

Doing something a bit drastic to fix my life

For the sake of my state of mind and my relationship I am ditching social media and forums.

I’ve done it before, and will probably lapse to some extent into it again. However, at the moment I am getting more bad than good from a range of things, including Instagram, Reddit, two other forums I frequent and to a lesser extent Facebook.

I’ve deleted Facebook, Instagram and Reddit apps from my phone. I have removed forums from my Chrome launch page.

I am better off spending all the time I’m investing/wasting on those things on people and things that matter to me.

Week 2 Reboot Meal Plan

Week 1 went pretty well! Mostly stuck to the plan, definitely stuck to keto/very low carb, and generally pleased with how I managed to keep it pretty budget friendly.

Here is a plan for Week 2 – this one runs with Thursday being the first day. It might get a little stuffed around as I have a sick child still. Lets see.

Also, you might notice no links in this. That is because I have a repetoire of things I am making in my head now! There is one brussel sprout recipe which I am going to refer to Instagram for, and I will prob google the mug bread recipe just in case, but otherwise I have these things in my head to cook. I am very pleased to get back to being someone who can cook stuff.

Note: meal plans are now going from Wednesday to Tuesday. I haven’t been very strategic this week with macros or calories, as I am more looking for compliance, simplicity and frugality.

Oops, almost a month in abeyance

It has been a while since I wrote! I mentioned that I would be trying to yolo my meal plan, and it went OK until Easter. At that point, we confirmed that my partner would be heading overseas, and he completely threw keto to the breeze. I jumped on his baddie train, so for about the past 10 days its been a shocker.

However, he left yesterday and today is my new Day 1. I have made a new meal plan – going from Wednesday to Tuesday now, which will possibly have to change as it doesn’t really fit with paydays and when I like to shop, but it will do for the week!

To add to this, I have to be really, really frugal. Our income is more than halved for the 6 weeks he is away, and I am using this frugal opportunity to stick to keto (mostly) basics. I have a good supply of butter and almond meal, plus I bought 3kg of mince and enough for 6 servings of chicken wings. I am going to add in a few eggy meals too.

My shopping list for the next week is pretty damn small, and I am hoping that I don’t need to get anything extra for me.

Anyway it was interesting to see that I was managing OK to eat keto, but my partner was very much not managing it. He has agreed that when he gets back (early June) he will jump straight back into ketogenic eating, as he noted that he did feel better, and I think he liked the structure and the steady weight loss he experienced. No idea what his eating will be like while he is away, it is all an unknown quantity at the moment – part of the fun of it all, I guess 馃檪

Anyway, I will do another post with my meal plan, but this is the shopping list, its basic, and takes into account the items I already have!

So where are those meal plans?

The short answer is, I’ve been YOLOing it.

Last week was a disaster area. Ate everything in sight. Refer to my Instagram or MFP for details, if you dare.

Anyway, this week we went to Costco on Tuesday and bulk bought some chicken and mince, and I grabbed a couple more things at Woolies and Coles, and I have been putting stuff together on the spur of the moment.

So far this seems to be going quite well. I think the lack of ‘having’ to stick to a ‘plan’ is a refreshing change, since the plan has been in place for 6 months now.

I expect I will go back to the plan at the end of this week, since I feel like I could waste a lot more money this way, and also end up in some sticky spots with nothing ready for lunch etc.

But for now its making a good change, and we have eaten a lot more healthily since I stopped feeling so bad about eating stuff that wasn’t on my plan for the week. My brain has always been a bit perverse like that.

Week 24

Plan only starts from Monday evening since the weekend for my partner was disrupted by his sister visiting and his proclamation that its too hard to eat keto with his family around. I disagree and think he is just looking for excuses…. No matter, he is happy to continue keto-ing now, so I meal planned and shopped, and this is how the rest of the week is looking:
